On that subject, let me ask you something: What is your purpose? What do you believe — in the very core of your being — that you were put on this planet to do?

If you’re like, “Jenn, I know exactly what my purpose is,” that’s freaking great! This episode will inspire you to keep living a life of purpose and keep impacting lives and creating the change you desire to see in the world. And if you’re like, “Well, Jenn, I’m not really sure,” then this episode will give you the tools and encouragement you need to discover it!

Christina Lecuyer is a human connection specialist, and she is a genius at helping men and women everywhere discover their passions and pursue them. And today, we talked about the most important things you can do to live a life of purpose. We talked about Christina’s personal story and how she came to own her self-worth apart from any external validation. We also talked about the best things you can do to discover and live out your own unique purpose.

This conversation is inspiring and empowering. I am so grateful to Christina for taking the time to come on the show — I know you’re going to love soaking up all her light! So without any further ado, let’s get started.

Who Is Christina Lecuyer?

Christina Lecuyer wasn’t always the boss babe coach she is today! When she was just starting out in the professional world, Christina was a badass pro golfer. She started playing golf at 18 years old and found herself growing very proficient in the sport very quickly. She won tournament after tournament and built a very successful career on the golf course. She also used her success and influence to raise millions of dollars for charity, and her work led her to facilitate business relationships with massive clients such as Forbes list CEO’s, Wall Street executives, and numerous global charities.

But after about ten years of playing pro golf, Christina had a realization — she wasn’t following her passion. She enjoyed golf, but she had been feeding off the external validation of her success more, and it was starting to take its toll. She wasn’t enjoying life anymore, so she decided to pivot. She took the leap and became a full-time coach for men and women who want to live more purposeful lives.

Today, Christina does a little bit of everything as a coach. Her primary focus is her one-on-one confidence and mindset coaching program, but she also hosts events to serve her clients’ needs on a larger group scale. She’s the founder of the Women with C.L.A.S.S. Mastermind and the Decide It’s Your Turn weekend event. Both of these events are specifically designed to help people break through their insecurities, discover their passions, and build successful AF lives they love.

Christina Lecuyer is a total boss babe. She is out there every day supporting men and women and giving them the push they need to live lives of purpose, success, and abundance. I am so excited to introduce her to you today! Let’s dive into our interview and hear a little more about Christina’s journey…

You Are Enough — Why You Don’t Need External Validation

When Christina Lecuyer was 18 years old, two things happened: She got really good at golf, and she got really pretty.

“And what happened was I got an immediate sense of this external validation hitting with me. … All of a sudden, everyone told me I was amazing and awesome and great and perfect and all of the things because I got good at golf and because I was attractive. And so for the next ten years, I almost treated the external validation … like a drug. I needed it in my head, which didn’t understand that I was enough without all of that.” - Christina Lecuyer

Christina spent years striving for the approval of others. She constantly thought, “if I just win one more tournament...” and “if I could lose just one more pound…” She drove herself crazy trying to be perfect for everybody all the time! And in the process, she grew to hate herself. She developed an eating disorder. She didn’t feel like she had any purpose at all.

Have you been there? Do you find yourself striving for likes on Instagram? Do you think, “If I could only do that, I would finally be happy?” Christina and I are here today to tell you that it’s not true. No amount of external validation will ever be enough to satisfy you completely. It will never fill your cup or make you truly happy. You have to realize that you are already worthy of joy, success, and abundance. It’s all about finding your unique passion and purpose. Christina found hers, and you can find yours, too!

“Once you understand truly that the journey of where you’re trying to go is actually what you’re really trying to do, then that is almost when you can sit back and go, ‘Holy cow, this is actually my purpose.’ You are, right now, currently, … exactly where you should be. … Wherever you are, whether it’s a really shitty spot or whether it is the top of the mountain spot, it’s exactly where you should be … and you are worthy of it all. … [And] once you realize that it’s all happening for you, … then people’s opinions mean nothing.” - Christina Lecuyer

I love that so much. Wherever you are right now, you are exactly where you should be. Everything that is happening is happening for you so that you can discover your purpose.

How to Really Stop Caring What Others Think

“Okay, Jenn,” you may be thinking, “That sounds great and all, but how am I supposed to just stop caring about what other people think of me?” I’m here to tell you that you can do it. But I’ll admit that it’s easier said than done. The key is to be so rooted in your passion that it becomes more important to you than others’ opinions.

“Yes, it hurts. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I have negative comments all the time. People totally disagree with what I have to do. … But … I believe so deeply in what I do that I don’t care if the president himself stood in front of me and said, ‘What you’re doing is the worst thing ever.’ I don’t care if my idol came up to me and said, ‘You are just so unworthy of [this].’… I will tell you [that] if someone is not willing to step in the fire and do the things that you were willing to do, they have absolutely no business in your brain [telling you] about what you can or can’t do.” - Christina Lecuyer

Do you believe that deeply in what you do? The kind of confidence that allows you to tune out all your critics comes from being firmly rooted in your purpose. If you’re striving every day to fulfill your passion and purpose on this Earth, then you can withstand any negative comments.

It’s all about taking that leap and building the life you love because you love it. It’s about impacting others now and positively influencing generations to come. It’s about making a better world and making a better life for yourself as a result. If you’re genuinely striving to do that, it becomes so easy to disregard other people’s opinions.

“Get so comfortable being scared. … I’m totally comfortable now just going, ‘Yep, this scares me. … This is really nerve-wracking. … People are going to be judgy … right now because that’s the way people are. But it has nothing to do with me.’” - Christina Lecuyer

Are you comfortable with being scared? It’s okay to feel that fear, as long as you don’t let it hold you back from doing what you were meant to do! If you are a million percent confident in who you are and what you do, your confidence, joy, and desire to impact lives for good will outweigh your fear every time.

Tools and Tips for Discovering Your Purpose

There are so many things you can do to develop confidence in your passion. I asked Christina what things have helped her the most on her journey to become the incredible boss babe she is today, and she had so many amazing tools and tips to share. For one, you can take a social media hiatus.

“If you ever think that the way that I’m showing up is making you feel like [you’re] not enough and not totally better than you were before you saw my stuff, … you need to hit ‘unfollow’ and you need to do that with every human who’s not making you feel lit up inside and know that there’s so much beauty in this world.” - Christina Lecuyer

Those are wise words. If you are following anyone on social media — I don’t care if it’s a coach, a motivational speaker, a celebrity, anybody — who does not fill your cup and contribute to your happiness, you need to unfollow, unsubscribe, and do whatever you have to do to get that content out of your face. You don’t need to be filling your mind or wasting your time on anything that doesn’t light you up and make you feel totally worthy! So don’t be afraid to take a break from social media if you need to.

Also, I’ve talked about this before, and I’ll talk about it again — it’s a great idea to spend time meditating. And that doesn’t have to look like sitting on a cushion with your legs crossed! You can go for a walk. You can spend some time journaling outside in nature. Whatever you need to do, do it! The key is to spend some quiet time alone with your thoughts to realign yourself with your mission and affirm your positive beliefs about yourself.

But those aren’t the only things you can do:

“There [are] just so many little things that people can do. But I would say surround yourself with the right people, … fill yourself with so much positive propaganda that one day you wake up and start believing it, move your body, get into quiet time, journal consistently, [and] get into devotionals every day with three things you’re grateful for.” - Christina Lecuyer

What do you do to discover and align yourself with your purpose? Whatever you need to do, make sure that you have a daily practice. Consistently rooting yourself in your purpose will give you the confidence you need to get comfortable being scared and withstand any criticism.

Why You Should Listen to This Christina Lecuyer Podcast Episode Right Now...

Tribe, I just want to encourage you — you have a beautiful purpose in this life. There is a reason you are on this planet, and if you haven’t figured out what that reason is yet, you will find it! No matter where you are in life, you are exactly where you should be. Your life is happening for you, and if you can get deeply rooted in your passion and pursue it with confidence, you will succeed.

And remember: You don’t have to worry about what other people say or think about you. Your worth does not come from any external sources — you are worthy of success and happiness and abundance all by yourself.

“I would just encourage everyone [to] always come back to the fact that unless they’re doing it and unless they’re walking side by side, hand [in] hand with you, most people don’t know how hard you work. We can all see the end of the story. How many people do we see that we’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, they were an overnight success?’ What you didn’t see was the 15 years of them busting their ass, staying up in the middle of the night, figuring it out, working three jobs, taking care of their kids, whatever it may be in order for them to get there.” - Christina Lecuyer

I want you to know that I believe in you. You can live out your purpose every day. You can build the life of your dreams and make an impact and income as a result!
